
The Cracovia Divertimenti is a chamber string orchestra of professional musicians striving for the highest standards of performance. Their repertoire includes a wide range of music from different periods and styles. Baroque music is performed on historical instruments. Various artists are invited to participate and the orchestra regularly performs with the Cracow Singers chamber choir in vocal- instrumental programs. The Cracovia Divertimenti excels in innovative and interdisciplinary projects and the presenting of contemporary music. Live music and dance performances are also presented in collaboration with professional dancers.
The founder of The Cracovia Divertimenti is Barbara Szczawińska, violist and manager of the orchestra. She graduated in Viola Performance from Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Poland with a Masters Degree. She studied in Austria at Anton Bruckner University (Erasmus Program) as well as at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Barbara has always been passionate about chamber music and keen on orchestral playing. She has participated in many courses and workshops: e.g.: The World Orchestra in Spain, Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie in Germany, International Kypria Summer Festival in Cyprus and Deutsch-Skandinavische Jugend-Philharmonii with the concert in the Berlin Philharmonie. She has had the pleasure of working with the leaders of the following orchestras: Irish Chamber Orchestra, Irish Baroque Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. In cooperation with the Fishamble Orchestra from Ireland, Barbara had the opportunity to take part in various concerts performing on the baroque viola as well.
